Cast Your Bread

Cast Your Bread

“What are we doing as Christians to “cast our bread upon the waters,” to give out portions to seven and eight? Perhaps we do not do more because we are waiting to be in a position to be better able to afford to give to others. While there are certain instances where Christians must use caution, in general, the desire to wait until one is better off before reaching out is nothing more than another attempt to control the wind. It is vapor; and Solomon goes on to warn us against thinking that tomorrow will be a better day for outreach, concluding, “He who observes the wind will not sow, and he who regards the clouds will not reap” (Eccl. 11:4).”—Jeff Meyers
